Missing Area of Web Page in Firefox

I have a problem with missing content on a couple of web sites pages in Firefox 3.6.17. The content appears in IE8 on the problem computer, Firefox 4 on another PC and Firefox 3.6.17 on another PC, so it's not the web page.

For example, if you take a look at the following web page - the very left side (Map Legend and all the check boxes, etc) is what's missing.
It used to work a few days ago, but I don't know what has changed. The content IS visible while the page is loading for a second, but then it disappears, as if it's "auto-hiding".

I don't what to do next. What I've done.

1. Firefox safe mode - no go
2. Checked all add-ons for updates
3. Turned off all unnecessary add-ons
4. Installed the same version of firefox over the top of the existing install
5. Java, Flash, Shockwave tests all come back OK.

go to the site and press [shift] + F5 keys at the same time... I'm assuming that you do not have a any add-on like noscript active... if you do, make sure you allow scripts from that web page you want to go to.

Correction --- Just press [Shift] while you click on the reload button on Firefox

Tried that - no change. I'm really stumped. I even tried to upgrade to Firefox 4 and that didn't do it.

Well, I uninstalled Firefox and chose to remove my profile (saving my profile to an alternate folder before doing so), ran CCleaner Regcleaner, rebooted and reinstalled Firefox. This fixed 2 other problem web pages, but NOT the one I originally mentioned. Strange.

So, I definitely fixed something by reinstalling but not sure why the Michigan page is not cooperating still. The other two problems were actually more important, but I could not post the sites due to that fact they would reveal private information.

It's not only you with the problems. I tried the page you linked to in Firefox 3.6.17 and IE 8. It works in IE 8 but in Firefox 3.6.17 I get two "traffic (or construction) cones" where the left side content should be.

Hope this helps.

Fantastic!!! That may keep me from losing my mind troubleshooting.

But, it doesn't explain why my XP laptop with the same version of Firefox loads the page just fine. Something very strange and subtle is going on but it's beyond me at this point.

works ok for me with IE9,Firefox 4,and chrome. On windows 7 x64.

Yeah, it seems to be Firefox only that is having the problem, but I have one machine that is just fine. Both PCs are XP, both Firefox 3.6.17, with the same Add-Ons, so there's no absolute rule.

I've sort of given up on this for now. I think it's a web site issue that is only manifesting itself under certain conditions.

Weird - I just installed this Microsoft update ( when it was offered as an automatic update and rebooted and the problem is now gone in Firefox.

The description of the "fix" that this update provides doesn't sound like it should have fixed my problem, but I don't believe in coincidences.

It actually started working on the one problem computer after I tried it again after a month or so.

So, it could have been a firefox update, windows update or the web site that fixed it now. Who knows.
