Misregistration on 1220c (fed via back)

I have a misregistration of 1mm that increases for every sheet fed (only from the back - this doesn't happen if fed from the front as is done normally) until the printhead makes a crunching sound when it docks. My project requires accuracy from one document to the next with the sheets fed from the back. All three of my 1220c printers exhibit this problem.

Has anyone else heard of this problem before? Is there a solution? I am getting desperate for a solution.

Help!

Thankyou,

Ed Graf

I usually get alignment problems with HP printers (that is the problem isn't it?..)

Some things to try:

* Install the HP Toolbox.
* Align, clean and possibly replace the cartridges
* Clean the printer
* Make sure the manual alignment is good i.e where you squash (probably not the best word to use) the A4\A3 paper from the side and top when you load it.

Other than this, I can't really think of anything since you say that it happens on all three.

If I think of anything I'll post it.

Regards

Thanks for the note.

The thing that bothers me the most about this problem is that the misalignment of the printing doesn't occur when paper is fed from the font - only from the back. This is what is mystifying me. I can't figure out why other than a possible firmware bug.

If you have a 1220, try sending the same sheet through a couple of times printing a number of different coloured squares over and over. You'll see what I mean.
