Hi all,
I have a operator/attendant who believes she's hearing fax tones intermittently when she receives incoming calls, she said the display ends with an extension on the switch. I took her word for it and removed 5 of my 10 extensions off the call-park phantom extension field. She said that made it worse. I did list trace and aside from the usual ip info nothing else stands out. Any clues?

In case I don't get around to it, you guys have been wonderful on this site. I really appreciate all the informed feedback. Thank-you so much!

I would tell her how to transfer the calls to a fax machine. If she does that and a fax prints out on the fax machine, then you know that it's an actual fax call. A fax machine is caller her. That's entirely possible. That doesn't mean something is wrong. If you do get a fax, look for a header or reply to number and call them to let them know they are sending the call to the wrong number.

sistech,

It is entirely possible that your attendant is correct. We have several mis-routed faxes per day. We narrowed it down to unused DID numbers. If the DID is not in use, it is routing to the attendant. I'd like to know if it is possible to route based on fax tones before the attendant actually has to answer/transfer the calls.
