Misbehaving html 1

Hi - I am building a web page, and I saw on another page something that I liked so I copied it and pasted it into my page. (It is basically centered internal links in a format that I liked).
It seemed to work when I replaced the copied links with my own links, and I exited the page-builder program. However when I came back to add something to my page, Those links were no longer centered on the page, and no matter what I did I could no longer center them.
What could be wrong?

I know that this is elementary, so thanks for your patience...
