hey there i hae a quick question

what is the difference between mirroring with Veritas VxVM and mirroring with MirrorDisk/UX?

im guessing veritas is a software mirror and MirrorDisk is hardware...

thanks in advance

also does anyone know the default password for the offline diagnostics?

so what ive heard about the offline diags is that only hp can run the ones that are PW protected because they have it setup with something that has to do with the time of day(not exactally sure) but i hate it whren companies do stuff lie that!!!!!!!!!!

both veritas and mirrordisk are software mirrors. If you use LVM, you have MirrorDisk, if you use VxVM, you have VxVM mirrors.
How do you know? Look at your bdf output. If the volumes are called something like /dev/vx/dsk/dg02/vol01 you have VxVM disk groups (dg), if they look like /dev/vg06/lvol1 you have LVM volume groups (vg).
HTH,
Stefan

I have the foundation env. so i dont think i have either of them but thats ok im just using this for training im just learning hp-ux
