Mirroring - Principal Shows 'Disconnected'

hi everyone,

I'm using 2005's database mirroring. Has worked well for several months. We had a hardware problem on the primary server recently that caused the mirror to stop.

The Primary database shows (Principal, Disconnected)

When I right-click --> Mirror, only 3 buttons are enabled: Pause, Remove Mirroring and Failover. The Start Mirroring is disabled.

And the Status shows : No connection. cannot connect to the mirror. (Yes the mirror server is up)

I'm using Synchronous without automatic failover (no witness).

Do I have any options other than reconfiguring mirroring from the ground up?

Thanks John. That's good info. This evening I just reconfigured the mirror after restoring the db onto the alternate server. It's in-synch once again. TYhe Primary server system board failed last week. That what caused the "disconnect5ed" state after it came back up.
