I had a crash a while back and concluded that the partition table on disk0 was corrupt. I swapped the mirrored drives and booted to the mirrored drive's partition (now that is drive0).
I wanted to performa low-level format on the bad drive but have been unable to start the system utilitiles program (Compaq Presario 200 PII). There is no F10 prompt when rebooting.
My work around follows:
I removed all partiions from the bad drive (Drive1)and established a mirror for the system partition and the data patition. Upon establishing the mirror for the system partition, the partition sizes are slightly different. Disk0 system partition (located in the second partition) is 4055MB, the Disk1 system partition (located in the first partition) is 4063MB. The mirrored data partitions are the same size.
My question:
Am I at risk of not being able to boot to the mirrored drive in case of Drive0 crashing? Should I create a bogous first partition on the mirrored drive and mirror the system partition to another partition on the mirrored drive?
Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated.
