For those using MIRAN: What is the ratio you use for RAN vs Music ports? I'm getting ready to install MIRAN and have been thinking maybe we should have more Music than RAN.
we only have a single music trunk per network group. that is auto broadcast to users. this switch has 8000 stations so we must use a lot of hold buttons
Thanks. The thing that started me wondering was that I seem to remember someone saying that too many folks at their place were listening to the music and using up the resources. Without MIRAN doesn't the music broadcast use a function of the conference loop? Maybe I don't need any music on the MIRAN.
no on my miran i just ref the mus route.. since music is a function of the rdb, if the miran puts you on hold for a conf etc the music is flagged in the inbound route and/or internal call.. mus yes in ftr data (internal station to station)
Now I'm confusing myself. Do you mean that you use 1 port, 1 channel, 1 license on the MIRAN for music? I thought there was a minimum of 4 per channel.
i don't have music on my miran, i don't have a need for it, during hold or transfer, music is applied to the set via other means.. in what app are you needing a miran music source? may be needed may not..a miran channel (or 4) is expensive to burn in you don't need to
>in what app are you needing a miran music source?
That's my question also. We currently have Interalia RAN devices and utilize the standard analog input port for music. We need to add a MIRAN for some additional recording capacity and flexibility & the vendor seems to think we need a music port on the MIRAN. They think more calls might be presenting a music request than we have capacity. If I'm correct music is a broadcast and limited only by the number of ports licensed.
