MIRAN will not stop recording

This is a fun one. I have a MIRAN II card which no one else has used around our place, so I am stuck with a really annoying problem. I was able to get it all configured with the set based administration route and it seems to work ok. The problem is when I go to record a message I press 5 to start recording but when I am done and press * it does not stop. The thing just keeps recording until I have to disable the card or wait for it to timeout. The weird thing is it worked once and maybe twice but it is like a 1 in 1000 chance. I have recorded from a digital and an analog phone and both act the same.

The MIRAN II is in an Option 11c in slot 3. The other problem I have had is the card randomly lost the channel assignments on me. It was working fine because I managed to get a single recording, then I came back one day and the recording was no longer assigned to the channel and it was back to some factory assignments. Is there a way to save this, or is it supposed to save those assignments on it's own?

on the trunk, try changing SUPN to yes and test

Set SUPN to yes.... Still the same. It picks up DTMF fine for everything else... username/pass, 5 to record... but it won't stop... arrrgh

I did try setting NEDC/FEDC to ETH and no go. Same issue/no change. Helps to read the book because I saw ETH in the MIRAN sample config but couldn't figure out how to set it in ld 16. My new RDB looks like this since we have changed it a bit:

Interestingly when I was playing with it yesterday I messed with the BIMP stuff and it started detecting the * consistently, but it would not record my voice. Hah... weeee

Have you checked to see if you have the latest firmware? When you loose a channel asignment is the recorded file still there or is also gone. What release is the card? It is possible that you just have a bad card. Your original RDB is correct although the Trunk should be TIMP 600 and BIMP 3com. Only difference is the TIMP. I have had a couple of these cards do pretty much the same thing. After recording about a weeks worth of changes through the TUI you would not be able to get it to stop recording with the "*" although it did not loose the message assingments. The lost messages was on another card and it proved to be a bad release on the card according to Nortel and they replaced the card. As for the TUI problem Nortel engineering is still working on that problem, (Not India). ETAS pulled all the files and logs and found nothing that should have caused the problem so they sent it off to the software group. If you can get your hands on a replacement it would be worth trying it to see if the problem goes away.

You have to save the calendar assignments or you will lose the channel to recording assignments on a power loss.

Power loss is entirely possible as we have had some problems with the fires here in Northern Cali. I did not think the switch went down, but it is very possible as it is in an area that is not closely monitored after hours.

What is the process to save the assignments? I can get to the text based admin but I am not sure of the steps to get it to save.

According to the front menu of the Miran admin: MIRAN II - Version 2.0.15f (Rls1). I would assume it is very old firmware as this card has sat in storage for quite a while (and I think it was bought refurb at the time).

How can I go about getting the firmware updated? Is this something Nortel has to provide through a call or is it somewhere I can download? I have not gone this far with a part before as I am still new to Nortel switches.

I don't remember the exact path but what you need to find is the save calendar assignments
