Hi all again. I've been progressing well with my scripts, largely due to the generous answers provided by tsuji (thanks tsuji!!).

My current challenge relates to whether or not I can use a script to detect a Toshiba laptop port replicator's serial number. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that this must be accessable somehow (through DMI or something similar). Has anyone ever heard of such a capability?

These scripts are for easing the workload of deployment staff, and so it would be *really* excellent if I could spare them the necessity of writing all the serials down. So far, so good, but I'm stumped with this one.

Perhaps there's some other terminology I'm missing which lead me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
Paul

Hello pdorman,

One shortcut method might be checking out, first visually and later parsing the .inf by script, the .inf, if at all it use a .inf to install. Within the .inf, the manufacturer would install the dmi specs. Just an idea.
