I need good crisp lettering for my work, so I gave up on Epson inkjets and invested in a Minolta 2300DL. The lettering looks great for some colors, but for other colors, the border lines (mainly vertical) are jagged instead of straight. The jaggedness is regular with a period of maybe 1/40 inch (~0.5 mm).
For example, I had some large-font letters in MS Word that came out terrific in either magenta or red (as Word defines those colors), but poorly in a "blended" color about halfway in between.
I also notice the same effect on borders of pictures (e.g. through utilities other than Word). I've tried all of the different settings I can think of, including Line Art on or off. I did not have this problem with my best-result Epson inkjet printouts (although those took multiple trials and constant head cleaning). What's going on? Is this the best I can expect?
WinXP PC, parallel IEEE cable, Word 2002, Adobe Photoshop 6.0, etc. Ordinary paper so far; given the high quality of the printout for some colors, I don't think the media is the issue. Also, I downloaded and installed the latest color-matching drivers, but this made the problem slightly worse.
