I have a new iSCSI SAN. I want to keep a local boot hd. The idea would be to start the boot from the hard drive containing the required iSCSI initiator to then mount remote file systems volumes.

We are using Fedora 4

Can anyone point me in the right direction to start searching on how I will complete this. I want to keep the bare minimum on the hard drive.

Thanks
Si

You could either put a normal small system on a standard FC4 box which could then mount your array.

Alternatively you could boot the OS from a compact flash card (look at
This would allow you to boot a compressed system image into ram and run a simple enough system for your san.

Hope this helps.
