hello all,

I want to be able to run dos based applications on a windows 2000 platform. I have tried using the cmd.exe /min option but this doesn't minimise the dos box.

eg: cmd start /MIN /c <the command to run>

can someone give me a example of the correct syntax ?

thanks in advance

alfie

Right click and drag the DOS program to the desktop and choose create shortcut(s) here option from the pop up menu.

Now you have a shortcut to the DOS program, and if you right click and choose Properties, then you can set the font size and other parameters and you won't see the DOS window when running.

Applies to Batch files as well.

Try this instead?
[tt] cmd [red]/c[/red] start /[blue]m[/blue] <the command to run>[/tt]

hello and thanks tekuser999 and tsuji.

Tekuser999, I need to be able to run any instance of cmd.exe and get it to minimise, and not just from the desktop.

tsuji, I have tried these parameters, the dox box does appear on the screen, it is for a quick period of time, but you can still see. I used to use this minimise option in the past, and it does minimise the dos box into the taskbar. You can just about see it when it is working. Now, i cannot get it to work.

Any more ideas would be very welcome.

Thanks

Alf

If you issue the command at command prompt itself, you might try this. From the look of the one as you have shown, I would naturally assume be not at command prompt!
[tt] start /m cmd /c <the command to run>[/tt]

thanks the01881,

will give this site a go.

tsuji, I need to be able to run dos based program from any a script. The program that I am running is a dos based program, which would mean that windows would run it in a dos box. I need to be able to minimse the dos box that appears when the dos program runs, so it doesn't create screen clutter or confusion.

Thanks

Alf
