hi to all,
I would like to understand what is is necessary,
about IP setting (ip,mask,DG,DNS) to fill in a LAN WAP.
This is a theoretical question.
To obtain pratical indications, I can make some experiments
or fill however everithing.
I explain myself. Suppose that the wired PC(s), to reach Internet,
require(s) a normal full IP configuration: IPAddr, subNetMask,DG,DNS, without proxy.
Setting up a PC with WiFi network card, and a WAP wired to the
above LAN, in both devices, independently from the PC-WAP connection, what is it necessary to configure
(fill IP fields) to make the wireless PC to reach the WEB ?
e.g.:
- is it necessary that the WAP has DNS set (if it has not
needing for itself to go in the web, ie for ntp purpose)?
- I suppose the ip setting of the wap, is necessary not just to manage it from a browser, but also to receive back the web
page from the router, requested by the PC.
Is it necessary, in the WAP, to configure the Default Gateway
or this info comes from PC ?
- Suppose to put a Sniffer in the LAN:
from the PC browser I enter the packet arrives to the router, but with which address:
the PC or the WAP one ? both in 2 packets ?
When the router sends back the web page toward the PC browser,
which address writes in the packet: the PC or or the WAP one ?
thanks in advance
vittorio
