Hi,

For example, Currently for document extension *.abc is not supported in livelink, currently these documents are opened in zip format in livelink. How to support these kind of documents in livelink. Can anyone tell me asap, step by step how to add a new document type in livelink while registering in MimeTypes and then fetch it accordingly in its original format. I wonder DCS engine wont get crashed while doing this kind of documents indexing. I would like this document type should supported in livelink in however situation, I am not sure whether we need a customization in core modules to support this new kind of document.

Hope to hear soon.

Cheers

You must first deterimine the mime type's proper name, this can be acquired a variety of ways. One way this can be done is to check the registry of a workstation that uses this as a known file type.

1) Go to "regedit", hkey_classes_root. Locate the mime type folder. Inside the mime type folder should be a key called "Content Type", the value data of the key should be the correct mime type name.

2) Edit the mime.types filers (found in the config folder for LiveLink). Add any extensions this file type will appear after the mime type in the same line, follow the format below:

application/vnd.ms-excel xls xlb XLS5

or-

image/jpeg jpeg jpg jpe JPEG

3) Restart the Livelink server.

Force a Fetch in Livelink:

If you would like this mime type to force a fetch when the doc name is clicked in Livelink (instead of trying to view this file type):

1) Add the mime type to the opentext.ini under the [viewablemimetypes] section. Follow the format again, new entries should follow numeric pattern as shown below.

MimeType_1=image/gif
MimeType_2=image/jpeg
MimeType_3=text/html

2) Restart the Livelink server.
