Millage Calculation sintax

I want to produce a millage calculater in Excell, but it involves 2 millage rates. any millage less than 2000 is calculated at 40pence per mile and any subsequent millage is at 20pence per mile. I enter the total millage in one cell but need the sintax for the differentiating between the 2 rates, any help would be great thanks.

it's just a basic if statement as shown below.

=if(a1 < 20000 , a1*0.4 , (20000*0.4) + (a1-20000)*0.2)
