I currently have a single Citrix Presentation server v4.5 running on Windows 2003 (Approx 5 yr old server) and previously ran older versions of Presentation server and I just ran upgrades as they became available. (MSDE Database)
This server is almost the last one on our old Domain and I need to move/migrate/upgrade to the new Domain ASAP.
I have a new Server which I have installed with Windows 2008 server.
I will have to install the 10+ applications that are running on the Citrix server manually anyway so that won;t really affect my solution going forwards:-
I think I now have a few options:-
1. Try and instal Presentation Server v4.5 on this new Windows 2008 server (Will that even work?) as this is the software version I am familiar with.
2. Install XenApp server 5 on this new server and then have to learn how to use and administer it very quickly since I need to get the migration moving ASAP. - Initial looks of v5 is very different to v4.5.......
3. Rebuild new server with Windows 2003 and use PS v4.5 as this is completely the environment I am used to...
I have already ruled our migrating existing server because risk is too great..... unless somebody knows differently?
Any other ideas/suggestions.
Many thanks in advance for any advice or assistance given.
