Migration to Outlook 2000 from 97 and sending attachments from Excel

Recently upgraded to Outlook 2000 from 97. Used to sending attachments from Excel. Now the mail window loads, I select the receipient and the system locks after selecting send. Have to quit Outlook and Excel. Wazzup with this.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
