At present we run NTMail as a POP only mail server. All of our external e-mail comes into this server, then is either forwarded to Exchange 5.5 boxes (using MX entries), or held in situ for users POP clients to connect to using Outlook. We also have several forwarding groups whereby an incoming mail is bounced to up to 30 other accounts within NTMail.
As the first step in our migration plan we are going to decomission this NTMail POP server. This means migrating the accounts to an Exchange 2003 server running the POP service, but unfortunately we need to pull out any additional information such as forwards, autoresponder messages, aliases, etc. There are 3000 accounts on the NTMail server, which is currently a PII 350Mhz PC (I know) and on it's last legs.
At present we're looking to do this through the MailMig.exe utility in Exchange using either LDAP or IMAP4.
Has anybody done this before and can give us any info, or can anyone suggest a better way?
