Hi all, I am Spanish and sorry for my poor english. I have a SBS 2003 R2 with Exchange and SQL. I want migrate to Server 2003 R using Transition Pack Premium.
Before migration, I created virtual machine for SBS for proves. SBS virtual dont work fine. AD and Sites functionally perfect, domain, dns etc. But I install a new server 2003 virtual, but i dont have DC this server 2003. It say that the domain is not present. I verified dns etc. I have a ping a SBS and respond. I dont know that fail.

I have installed Backup Exec 11d in SBS and I read that the backup exec in SBS with Transition for migration have problems (silent fail). Please that do?? Stop Services Backup Exec?? Unistall Backup Exec???

Everyone has used Transition Pack?? Please I need help.

Thanksªª

There is another program called Swing Migration:

that has been around a while, and many are familiar with it, but not Microsoft's Transition Pack Premium. It seems that for the amount of $$$ you paid they should offer help via telephone in Spanish for Microsoft customers.

Llama por telefono Microsoft y diga que necesitas ayudar con su producto nuevo.

I'm afraid things could get lost in translation in forum, you paid good money and lots of it for that kit, it's new, Microsoft should support you in your native language.

First on the virtual SBS: I've used VMWare server to build virtual SBS 2003 servers several times for testing and was able to add other servers to the domain after working on it a bit. Was the new virtual server able to use the SBS box to resolve DNS queries?

On the Transition Pack, it's a good way to go, but you are right about the BackupExec issue. The best thing to do would be to uninstall BackupExec before running the Transition Pack, and then reinstalling it afterward. That's not that difficult, really.

The Transition Pack takes a long time to run, sometimes up to six hours. Because of that, taking 10 minutes to uninstall BE and then 30 more later to reinstall it isn't that long. I think you can preserve your job definition files and catalogs.

Hi!
I am install Transition pack. I have a problem in installation: With SBS4.0 and clients 98,95, nt...
But in my system is SBS2003, and clients are XP.
Continue installation and terminate.
My windows is Server 2003, I execute winver.exe and my system is server 2003 now. But if I go to Add programs, programs windows, i dont create a terminal server.
I read that in SBS 2003 i dont have a Terminal Server, but in server 2003 yes. Why i dont exist the option that Terminal Server in my new 2003 migrated???
Please I need help. Sorry for my english.
