Hello,

I'm running TSM Server for Windows v5.3 on W2K3. I have 2 LTO2 drives, so my libraries are manual.

I am currently able to run backups, migrate to tape and perform DB backups. My problem is when I migrate from my diskpool to tape.

I can invoke UPD STG DISKPOOL HI=0 LOW=0 MIGRPR=2 without any problem and my 2 migration processes start. Here is how it appears in my actlog:

ANR2017I Administrator ADMIN issued command: UPDATE STGPOOL DISKPOOL HI=0 LOW=0 MIGPR=2
ANR2202I Storage pool DISKPOOL updated.
ANR0984I Process 2 for MIGRATION started in the BACKGROUND at 12:38:18.
ANR1000I Migration process 2 started for storage pool DISKPOOL automatically, highMig=0, lowMig=0, duration=No.
ANR0984I Process 3 for MIGRATION started in the BACKGROUND at 12:38:18.
ANR1000I Migration process 3 started for storage pool DISKPOOL automatically, highMig=0, lowMig=0, duration=No.
ANR8326I 001: Mount LTO volume SCRTCH R/W in drive LTO_LEFT (MT6.0.0.2) of library LTOLIB3 within 60 minutes.
ANR8326I 002: Mount LTO volume SCRTCH R/W in drive LTO_RIGHT (mt5.0.0.1) of library LTOLIB3 within 60 minutes.

Unfortunately, I cannot fill 15% of either LTO2 tape without the process closing, ejecting the tape and requesting a scratch tape to continue.

Does this have anything to do with the 'duration=No' mentioned in the actlog above? If so, how do I change this to duration=Yes?

Any help on this will resolve my only remaining implementation issue...

Hi Doug

For each $volume that you suspect is closing early, please post the results of the TSM command:

query volume $volume format=detail

This might help us to understand what's happening with those LTO2 tapes

Got it!

I was able to find the problem. I had Collocation=Group set on the tape storage pool. Needed to set it to No.

Thanks for your help anyway, Matthew.
