I'm running MySQL 3.23, and want to take advantage of the subselect features available in version 4.1. Will this be a relatively simple upgrade? I'm running a WinXP box, and use ColdFusion as my middleware app.

Can I just run the install overtop of the previous app, and is the version different enough that I will need to rewrite any quesries in CF? Any insight is appreciated.

I have had my terrible experience in upgrading mysql on windoz. My upgrade was a simple 4.0.5 to production release and my server got messed up.
I have always had to uninstall-reinstall-clean-reinstall windoz- etc but not once out of the three times I have tryed it worked fine.

That is why I run my dev copy of mysql on linux and develop the front-end on windoz.

However, I have given up very quickly (three only attempts in the windoz world are very few) therefore you may wait for some more comments.

Regarding the queries I agree with sleipnir214, I don't think you will have to re-write anything.
