Hi,

I was wondering if you guys could possibly help me with a migration question i have?

Basically we have a 2 windows srv 2k3. 1 is a DC the other is a File/Print.
These servers are being migrated into a new domain.
We will use the ADMT tool to migrate the user profiles, computer accounts and then user accounts.
We will migrate the DC first and then once that is done we will have the users login to the new domain with SID history. The file/print will still be in the old domain (Trust setup). Will the users still be able to access resources on the file/print as that is where all the shared data lives? We think so using SID History? Then we will disjoin the File/print and join it to the new domain and the users should still have access or will we loose any protected data for file shares or permissions?

Does this sound correct or are we missing something major?

Thanks in advance.

If you migrate the DC first, the trust goes away, since there wouldn't be a DC in the "old" domain any more. You need to migrate the file/print server first.
