Migration IPOCC to CIE

Good Morning!

We need an expansion of the IPOCC licenses for a customer. Since IPOCC is end of sale, we cannot purchase them.

Does anyone know if CIE licenses are usable in IPOCC and if not, what does a migration process from IPOCC to CIE look like?

Is CIE still available in Germany?

I would love to have that option but CIE was never available outside of Germany as far as I know.
The licenses are the same as I understand so you could install CIE with the same licenses.

I don't know if there is anything IPOCC specific in the database, or if Avaya would allow you to expand you IPOCC licenses for CIE since it's different products in their system.

Yes, CIE is still available in Germany and in (more or less) active development with regular updates every couple of months.
In PLDS CIE and IPOCC use different licenses BUT once you generate them both just say "CIE" inside the .xml file and they are interchangeable.

Sadly there is no migration from IPOCC to CIE. Avaya only provides a move from IPOCC to ACCS which is a major downgrade in many areas imho.

Like janni78 I have no idea if there is anything IPOCC specific in the database or if you could - for example - create a backup of the database, install a new CIE and then restore the backup into the new CIE.

If you need additional licenses for your IPOCC and you/your customer is not located in Germany then you're out of luck I'm afraid...

If they are still developing CIE, that makes the decision to pull IPOCC even stranger! Why can't they just let us have CIE on the IPO. Idiots!

I don't understand why they didn't just release CIE to everyone when they bought the product instead of waiting branching it into IPOCC.
Years before IPOCC came CIE was supposed to come to Aura, but that got cancelled. We managed to sell CIE to a customer before they changed the decision and they got CCE instead which was an outdated product even back then.

CIE is supported for both Aura and IPO in their latest releases (8.1 and 11.1). Compatibility for Aura has been around since at least 2015 (since that is the year I installed my first one) [wink]

The thing is that Avaya USA has decided against CIE, simple as that.
The only reason why CIE is still around are some really big customers (one German one in particular) who implemented CIE about 2-3 years ago and they are not willing to migrate to AACC anytime soon it seems.

As it stands you are still able to buy CIE with up to 5 years support, so the product seems to have some more years to go [pipe]

We can't buy it in the UK and can't get support. So we are stuck, otherwise we would be doing it!!

Couldn't you simply open an office in Germany?
Renting a PO box next to an empty office building with a single room shouldn't be too expensive ;D
Then have them assign all CIE licenses to your company instead of to the customers directly.
