We are having two domains aaa.net for windows servers and bbb.net for unix servers. aaa.net is a Windows 2003 Server with ADS. On the bbb.net domain we are running the Solaris 8/DNS BIND. We decided to shutdown the bbb.net domain and we have migrated all the unix clients from bbb.net domain to aaa.net domain. After we have migrated to the new domain we shutdown the bbb.net domain. Then we are not able to send any mails using sendmail from any of the unix servers. Once we started back the bbb.net domain mails started working.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

You haven't exactly provided alot of information here. What do the logs show on the machines unable to send mail?

One quick thing to check: are your other boxes set up to use the decommissioned machine that hosted bbb.net as a smarthost?

Please find below the error message.

xyz.com: Name server timeout
abc@xyz.com... Transient parse error
-- message queued for future delivery

We have removed all the entries of bbb.net from sendmail.cf configuration file.

Thanks
