hi, i have about a years experience in perl now writing my little bits here and there. I work mainly with linux and i think it is important that I know how it all works. Thus, I would like to start work on C.

I do not know which would be more suited to linux system admin and app/kernel development, C or C++ so if someone could direct me that would be brilliant.

also, is there a C equivalent to perl.org with mailing lists and a perldoc-type thing?

The majority of the Linux kernel is written in C. If you want to understand the kernel I would sugest that you go for C. Once you know C understanding C++ is easy.

There is no specific C mailing lists becasue there are too many users, and C became popular before the internet era. I would say tek-tips is as good a mailing list as any.

cheers
