Good afternoon,

We are about to embark on the above in a windows/SQL Server environment. I just wondering if anybody would be so kind to offer any useful tips etc.

We have been told it is quite straight forward. There are no customisations within the current application.

Thanks in advance

Hi:

We're going through the same thing right now and have tested the upgrade on our DEV server and we are also in a Windows Server/SQL2K5 environment. As long as you haven't customized your User or Group forms it seems pretty straightforward and you shouldn't have any problems.

We had added a comments (diary) field to our User form and had an issue with the User data not rendering on the User form after the upgrade. The data appeared to exist on the field table but not the underlying T10 table - very strange. So we started over - we exported the DEF File for the User form and exported all the data to an ARQ file then deleted the user form. When we ran the 7.1 installer the User form was re-created - we then added the Comments (diary) field to the User form and imported our User data. Problem solved.

Thanks for the info.

I just finished upgrading from ARS 6.1 to ARS 7.1 patch 4. For the most part everything went fine. The only problem I had was some of my approval notifications quit working. All I had to do was find the correct filters and change one of the field names in the qualification. The Midtier upgrade gave me a little problem because of the way we initially installed 6.1. If you have specific questions, let me know.

Hi ,

Thanks for the feedback, I am not working on it directly. In terms of the direct data migration, how long does that take? I know this is a how long is a length of string question. We have only a small db....

We are moving to another server and network.

Thanks

Since all we upgraded was the AR Server side, we didn't have to do any data migration. If you are upgrading the applications such as Service Desk, Change or Asset, that will be much more complex depending on customizations, etc.
