I was thinking of migrating my windows environment to linux. I have about 5 IIS servers which host ASP pagesand 3 SQL servers. However, I have a couple questions:

-Can ASP run on linux or will it have to be converted?
-Is the process of converting SQL to MySQL safe in terms of data integrity?
- What kind of pricing am I looking at if I were to go with Linux?
- Are there any other things I should take into consideration?
- Anyone have any idea on the time frame to do such a thing?

Thanks!

Hello:

There is a package for apache that's supposed to allow 'asp' to run though I've never tried it.
or you could always convert the pages to PHP

For the most part 'MySQL' is SQL compatible, though I'd suggest you back up your date before migrating incase you do have to make modifications.

price? Linux is 'free' to download and comes with everything you need to start running as a server. Fees may arrise if you decide to hire someone to migrate the servers for you, at which point fees vary with who you contact.

That's tough to say, it depends on how much is being setup, and the experience of the person doing the migration. A rough estimate? 2-4 hrs complete *per

That depends on what you're using your boxes for and the services you provide. There's office products " not to mention thousands of other items, you'd need to be more specific. Email perhaps (Linux comes with Sendmail)

Hope this helps
