Migrating to Modular Messaging Release 5.2 on HP DL360 G7 server

I have a customer migrating to Modular Messaging Release 5.2 on HP DL360 G7 server. They are going from 4.0 to 5.2. The 4.0 version is using QSIG to communicate with the Avaya phone switch. We are using SIP integration with the 5.2 version. The documentation is instructing me to convert the 4.0 system to SIP and remove the dialogic boards. Make sure the 4.0 system is communicating via SIP. Is this correct? Do I convert the phone integration with the modular messaging to SIP before I back up the 4.0 system or do I analyze the 4.0 system with the DCT, use this file for the modular messaging wizard and convert the 5.2 version to SIP after the install?

Like for like on the upgrade and then change integration after update.
