We currently use a third party mail solution from Ipswitch with which we have been mostly happy. One of the main goals for next year is to migrate to exchange 2007, the main reason being the enhanced features in provides in a AD 2003 and Sharepoint 2007 environment.

With regards to the above, I was wondering if anyone has had a successful migration to exchange particularly from Ipswitch. Even if it is not from Ipswitch, could someone kindly post a general migration strategy.

Some of the concerns are as follows,
- There are several users who already use Outlook POP to connect to Ipswitch. After the migration, how does one organize Outlook. Is there any way to save the folder structure in Outlook. Would all the mails start downloading again for all users? I guess the main question here is about Ipswitch mailbox conversion to exchange and maintaining the structure in Outlook.
- The second concern is that the addomain is abcdomain.edu and the MX record is abc.edu. I think this is easily handled in exchange, but could someone confirm this?

Please advice.
Thanks.

Outlook: They currently have a PST file with structure. You'd add the Exchange connector to Outlook, move the non standard folders from the PST to Exchange manually or use exmerge if you have many users. That's a real non-issue as it is really easy and the users won't really see much difference if any.

You can have any internal domain and any inbound domain. This can be handled either on the connector using a masquerade domain (covered loads of times in this forum) or by changing the default SMTP address using a recipient policy.

Migrating from ipswitch? Fraid that isn't my area :)

Thanks Zelandakh,
I am a Exchange newbie, and just wanted to confirm a few things.
