Hello. I need a bit of advice or insight from someone who has experience in implementing this, into how strenuous a task this may be. We are currently contemplating creating an isolated farm for a mission critical application which we would like to move into our enterprise farm once they have completed disater recovery and contingency requirements. IN theory we would have our farm setup and complete within a months time and give the ma year complete their initiatives. ONce complete we would like to migrate our farm into theirs I.E. having our servers point to their DS. We are only running a total of 8 servers in our farm while they will host roughly 40-50. Is this a feasible solution? Is moving one server to another farm as simple as recreating the server to point to their DS? Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
Chai

There is a chfarm utility (change farm) on the MF XP setup CD. This should do the trick for you. You run in on an existing server and it will allow you to either create a new farm or join an existing one. If you create a new farm, you will have to re-enter all you license information. You will also have to re-publish any applications.
