Are there any good posts/whitepapers on migrating an Octel 250 R2 to MM?

I come up with the following: AVAYA professional services offers the migration for a price and Unimax (maker of Mailbox Manager) offers a class for their "migration tool".

This was after talking to the MMTAC at AVAYA for help finding links to proceedures, etc.

Good link for planning, thanks. It discusses "migration" as a cultural thing, not the actual movement of raw data from one platform to the other using software tools. Again, it can be done, but how and at what cost.

This is the best AVAYA's MMTAC could do, and they were very willing to help.

I was hoping to get the mailboxes (names, numbers, etc) moved over.

You could use mailbox builder to get the info from the Octel and then you can use the mailbox manager to bulk add from file to the MM. You will not be able to move greetings or messages using that method. Then you would need to have the users setup there mailbox on the new system. At this point you would have to have a S3210 message networking system to let the users copy messages from their Octel mailbox to the new one.

I think Mutare has a tool that will move everything but not sure what the cost is.

That was orignally the plan. I have a 5.2 Mailbox Manager on my laptop that I've installed for an Octel 250. As far as I was concerned, I was going to do a "get configuration" from the Aria, save the database and then reinstall the software for connection to the S3400 and try to download it, but stopped for lack of clear proceedure.

I appreciate the response.

FINAL SOLUTION:

Built 810 mailboxes manually based on $ for Unimax migration tool training v the 18 hrs it took to load them myself. I've been promised by the sales group next time will be different. Visualize my held breath.

Did the swap last night and things are going well (knock knock). We are running both systems for a week, and so far the big issue is reconciling the pre-cutover lights from the Octel v. the new ones from MM. They set up a new VDN for the Octel and we changed the vm access number from a VDN to a hunt group (T-1/QSIG)

Ken, I have yet to check out Mutare. Once I have a moment, I will look into that.

Well you can also use mailbox builder to suck the info to a excel spreadsheet and save it as a text file and just import it using mailbox manager that does not cost anything to do.
