We have three domains, two from legacy companies, one new domain to merge both old domains on to. A trust has been set up between all domains.

Because of some org changes, I need to migrate 750 mailboxes from Domain A to New Domain B. The goal is to have the user continue to authenticate to Domain A, then either use those credentials or RPC over HTTP to have them authenticate to their mailbox.

Also, once on the domain, we are going from firstinital last name to first.last.

So I need to:
- Migrate Mailboxes to new domain
- rename the accounts
- Give them a way to get to their email even though they are still authenticating to the old domain.

Every tool I look at sort of does some of these things but I can find no silver bullet. Any suggestions on steps or tools?

First question; why would you move their email to Domain B and then keep them authenticating in the Domain A?

I would create their new accounts in domain B with the new naming convention for email address setup on that Exchange environment. Then migrate their emails to their new accounts. Then setup forwarding on their old mailbox so that they still get emails from Domain A.

More info i am sure needs to be discussed, so i'll leave some for the other forum mebmers.
