we just got a SQL 2005 server and will move 2000 dBs to 2005. My question Is what is the fastest and cleanest way to move 8 databases? Do I have to backup/restore 8 different databases 8 times? Thanks for the help in advance.

The link tells me, copy dB wizard won't move model, msdb. Since these dBs are for agent stuff, how do i move them over? Also, we decided to leave 4 databases and move the rest. Can you specify what databases to move when you do detach/attach?

You cannot copy the model and msdb from 2000 to 2005 - 2005 will just stop working!

You will have to script your jobs out

Oh, and leave master in place too.

Any others can be moved (except of course tempdb :))
