Hi all,
Got an interesting situation that we're trying to plan for. We have a 5.5 environment at the moment and everyone running Outlook 2000. We are in the process of installing Exchange 2003 server and migrating the mailboxes. Now, a lot of the users are remote and use .ost files. Because we're consolidating 8 x 5.5 servers to on just a couple, it means a lot of users need to be upgraded to Outlook 2k3. We want to use the cached mode to get round the problem of slow rep times.
Just speaking to mr. microsoft, it seems that when you do this, the .ost file is re-generated. Doh! This means massive use of bandwidth usage.
Has anyone had to do this / know the best procedure? ie, do we upgrade Outlook 2k3 in cached mode before migrating mailboxes, or migrate mailboxes and then install Outlook 2k3?
Swings and roundabouts!
Cheers,
Gav
