Hi,

I have to a migrate from HP Procurve to Cisco switch.

HP Procurve is 5304xl, do you know which Cisco model switch is a Competitor ?

Thank you in advance

if you need to have a chassis based switch then you're looking at a 4500 or 6500 series switch. the main differences between them are 1) throughput/backplane, 2) configuration flexibility, and 3) cost.

I hate all Uppercase... I don't want my groups to seem angry at me all the time! =)

Looking at that model - a small 4500 should be fine, if it's working though why change? We're pretty much all cisco but at the edge it's not so important.

Bear in mind too the 4500 is quite old - it's been updated but there is a chance it's due to be replaced soon.

Alternative would be a stack of 3750's or similar?

Thank you very much for your time and help.

HP was working properly but "somebody" decided to replace them by Cisco. The winner is ... 3750X

I would go for the 4948-10GE for the core...not modular though, then neither is a 3750...
