Hi All,
i have a site that has an exchange server running on an Very OLD box. They have a new server on order, should arrive any day now, i want to migrate the old exchange to the new box, now the old exchange was also on it's own domain as the controller, the site has two domains, i also want to amalgamate this into one domain. One domain is domain1.here.edu.au the other is domain2.local. It was done that way, so i have been informed, so the the student and staff domains would be separated keeping the little $%#$# from seeing what the teachers are saying about them.
The .local domain is the exchange domain, I want to get rid of that domain and only use domain1. I need to know if there is an easy way of migrating the exchange across to the new box, or should i just start from scratch?

Regards
Max

Thanks Pat,
I know about having exchange and a dc on the same box that's another reason why i want to move it. I inherited this system and now i have to sort it out, Luckly it's not a big exchange only about 12 users but they are expanding next year so it will be bigger. Thanks for the link.

Regards
Max

12 mailboxes? Exmerge them out, blow the server, build a new one, exmerge back in. :)

You might need two cups of coffee during that entire process...maybe less.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

Zelandakh, That was the way i was planing.
and Davetoo, Two cups of coffee? :)

Sorry...without knowing how large the PST's are it might take long enough for that second cup...I don't move on to beer until *after* I complete a task. ;-)

Yes, I suppose we should have asked that question before taking the thread into the reeds (again).

Though 12 users shouldn't really be pushing the exmerge limits.

Oh, and "planing" is when you are smoothing wood - "planning" is making arrangements to do something in the future...

Damn keboard keps mising out leters wen i type :) :)

Get rid of 2003, migrate to 2007, setup an LCR. Aftet pressing "Submit Post", immediately switch to LCR, correct, and submit again. Revert back to original stores, merge in any changes from the LCR, and you're all set.

See...Microsoft is clearly looking out for our interests here and have made it sooooo much simpler!
