migrating exchange 2000 to new hardware

We currently have Win 2k server running an exchange 2000 server. We have added a newer domain controler into the domain runing Win 2k. I want to move the exchange server from the old machine to the new one. I have never installed exchange server before. Can I install exchange on a second server in the domain. I don't want the services to go down or crash. If I can install a second instance of exchange within the domain, how do I transfer the mailboxes into the new server? An information link or two would be appreciated.
