Migrate RDC v8 to RDC v9 for designer based report

I have a report that's embedded in a legacy VB6 app that I don't want to re-write as the report is very complex and has lots of event code, etc. The report was developed in a prior version of the RDC in a designer file. I'm now using Crystal 9 and have updated the references in my project, however, I get the dreaded "Server has not yet been opened" error. Even though I have the Crystal 9 references, the report does not support the ConnectionProperties methods which is odd. I only seem to have SetLogonInfo available.

I haven't been able to find any material on migrating my old report to the new designer. Any ideas?
