I have installed a new RH7.3 PDC server. I want to migrate the current linux account and samba account from RH7.1 to this new server so that all the linux and windows clients can use their old username and password to logon.

How can I do that?

Thanks.

Copy the accounts in the /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, and /etc/samba/smbpasswd (if needed) files to your new server. I wouldn't copy the entire files, just the user accounts inside that you need. If you have home directories, you probably will want to copy those over too.

There are many Windows 2000 and Windows XP in our environment, those servers or clients are joined to the samba PDC on the fly. If I copy the contents of the machines' trust account in /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow and /etc/samba/smbpasswd, is it work after migration?

Thanks.
