We currently have 2x ISDN circuits connected to a R11 IP office system and need to replace these with SIP trunks.

I know Avaya Aura so would normally just order the trunks plus SBCs but not sure about PSTN SIP on the IPO

Does the IPO have a builtin SBC or does it use the Aura SBCe? As we are CNI (critical national infrastructure) we have to be very conscious of security so connecting SIP trunks directly to the IPO will be definite no unless it has a good firewall or SBC internally.

Does IPO support 3rd party SBCs so could we instead use something like Ribbon or Audiocodes instead?

Cheers :)

IPO does not have a built-in SBC so you must consider it as an add-on.
You can use the Aura ASBCE or any other you are confident with.

Depending on your provider you may be able to lock down the SIP trunks to specific IP addresses at either.

This may not offer all the functionality of an SBC - any comments?

Can't go down the route of access lists on the trunks or other methods, it has to be an SBC or firewall.

Will look at pricing for the Aura SBCe as I know that product quite well.
