migrate content to new template

Hello,

I have just created a new template with a new theme. Is there a way to take the existing webparts on existing wss sites and migrate them or apply the template to them? I hope I don't have to manually re-create each web part in the new template. The web parts are pretty basic (announcements, image web part, calendar, etc.)
