I need to move my existing CommCell server to a new server. What is the best way to do this without losing any data (the data regarding backup jobs, configs, etc.)

Using CV 6.1

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Quite easy to do with Galaxy.

First, do a DR backup.

Install Galaxy on the new server and service pack it to the same level that the old Commserve was on...only install the CommServe even if the old CommServe is also a Media Agent or has other iDAs installed.

When you have installed the CommServe software on the new server then perform a DR restore using the DRRestoreTool app that you can find in the Galaxy/base dir.

After you have succesfully restored your last DR backup then you can install any other iDAs that were present on the old CommServe (ie. Media Agent, filesystem iDA etc).

It's all documented quite well in the online docs.

btw. If possible ensure that the new server has the same hostname/IP address as the old server, if not then you will need to acquire a change IP license from CommVault.
