I have a database that I have created prior to coming to my current company that was created using SQL Express 2005. My company doesn't have SQL Server 2005 in production, only 2000. Is there an ability to migrate backwards "with ease"?

***Note***
The database doesn't contain any programming, basically just the tables, data, and relationships.

You only can use Import/Export wizard (If you want data).
Or script the entire Database and run that script on SQL Server 2000.

Or SSIS it out from one instance (SQL2K5) to another (SQL2K).

A quickie question though - why dont you download and instal SQL 2K5 Express onto your PC/Laptop, add the SMSExpress with tools and restore your DB there?

Good question, mainly because the server is better suited as the load for the database in the production environment will be higher than what my desktop will serve.

(Unless your are talking about restoring it to the 2000 server)

No - once you have restored a DB to SQL 2005, you cannot back it up and then restore it to 2000 (thanks MS). You can create a SSIS package and output the tables to 2000 of course. Confuddled though (it is late here): if there are no SPs in the DB, where is the load coming from?

So - you could install SQL 2K5 Express, install the express tools with the bells and whistles, restore the DB to the local machine, SSIS the DB tables out to your 2K DB and uninstall 2K5 Express (If you really need to - you could just turn it off until you need it...) Nip off the bits, tuck in the ends and Bob's your Auntie!
