Hi All

I have a friendly bar owner with (shocker) an ancient PC acting as his micrOS server that is on it’s last legs. He’s a hard drive or motherboard failure away from serious POS downtime. I want to help him before he is in hot water and he’s receptive to it.

My first plan is to recommend that he get a new service contract and server from the local micros outfit. If he balks at that, I’ll probably try to get him to migrate to a new PC. I’ll also set up some robust backup, which is currently lacking.

Can this system be moved to Windows 10 Pro? Or do I need to plan a migration path that involves running essentially the same XP image on a new PC? If that is the case, do I need to seek out a used XP computer to avoid issues with drivers for newer computers?

Based on my questions above, what is the smoothest path to migration?

Thanks for providing this haven for people trying to help business with ancient equipment lol. A lifesaver for countless people.

xp is done,he must not do c..c.s? what ver. 3700? you can upgrade to win7 and convert db. he will not go for contract too much money plus licensing fees

annd do not mirror the hd, if it has problem it is copied to mirror and two bad drives. b/u db externally and clone hd to always have on hand. gl
