I am in the process of setting up a dictionary to report off of. The help inplies that the regular formula functions will work in CD but I cant get MID to work. We are using verion 9.5 of CR and I downloaded Crystal Dictionary from their website. I want to set up a formula in the new dictionary to give me just characters 3-6 from a given field.

Thanks.

In case this hasn't been brought to your attention, Crystal Dictionaries are NOT recommended.

When posting, try including what you tried and what the result was.

Try a formula containing:

mid("Hello world",7,5)

If that fails, then it sounds like you've uncovered a bug.

If it works, try posting what you tried, along with any error messages, and the data type of the field.
