.mid file for a Sharepoint web page

I am new to MS Sharepoint & had no trouble creating a web page, but for some reason I cannot get the .mid file to play in the background. The file has been "formatted" into the page (via background sound under the general tab & is uploaded to my files for a personal web page on Comcast, but no sound plays when the page is opened, or when working with it in Sharepoint. The file is not corrupted since I can access it & play it with Windows Media Player. Yes, my sound is turned on & up. :) Can anyone offer me a solution to fix this?
