Had a weird couple of incidents regarding MICS KSU's getting locked up "In Maintanence" mode. Have tried receding system LS/DS cards and software, swapped station 25pr amphenol cabling and tried several different system ports and cannot clear "In Maintanence" mode.
Both KSU's were pre-programmed at office with very basic configuration, utilizing LS/DS line service and not much else all that involved, and then shipped out of state for installation. Upon power-up, both units stayed hung" In Maintanence".
The odd issue for me is one KSU was a refurb with new 4.1 s/w, the second unit was new KSU and new 6.0 software.
Any remedy, fix advice and/or expierences with issue would be greatly appreciated..Thanks

sounds like what happens when the system is accessed remotely with a fast rad or something. Its whaqt happens when I work on a system remotely {dial in} or with my laptop, it puts all sets in maintenance, that is...the display will read "in maintenance"

If you have an expansion card in the system and have installed it in slot 1 then it will stay hung "In Maintenance".
Expansion cards must be installed in slot 2 first then in slot 1 if you have XC software.

Thanks for the replys, guys. Unfortunatly the expansion card was installed properly and the RAD was never able to be accessed as the system came up upon installation in maintanance..

this has happen to me before when i tried to put 2 2 port fiber expansion cards in the ksu. make sure you have the right software version for the right number of cards.

Yeah , I agree with sscott1234 - It sounds like you have two fibre expansion cards inserted and that you do not have XC software. This will cause the system to stay hung up in 'maintenance' mode.

Also, if you had added a lot of hardware to the system all at once, it can hang in Maintenance when booting up.
Try disconnecting half of your expansion equipment, then re-boot. When it comes up, power down and add the rest of your equipment. Re-boot again. I have seen the KSU act like it does not have enough memory to handshake with all new equipment at one time to update the registry.

I think this will cure your problem.

Bags,

Be careful. Slot 1 is the right hand slot. The only time i see the problem you are describing is when the expansion card is in the wrong slot.

Just making sure

I have the same problem with a Mics 4.1 software, 2 port fiber expansion card, 2 LS/DS cards on the core, 1 trunk module with 1 trunk card, and a 2 port Flash. System booted up in Maint. mode with out the Flash connected, removed the Fiber expansion card and powered up with just the 2 trunk cards in the core, still in Maint. Removed both Trunk cards, and powered up with only the software, still in Maint. mode. I even pulled the flash card out of the NVR while in Maint. mode, and nothing happend. Only thing left to do is to start swapping, the core, the NVR, or the software. Any suggestions?

Do you have a 6 port expansion card? It sounds as though this KSU used to have a 6 port card in slot 2. The only way to downgrade a system is to put the 6 port back in, power up, do a Feature * * startup. When it says applying template, pull power. Remove the 6 port card, put the 2 port card in and power up again. Do another Feature * * startup and you should be good to go.

Yep. It is the only way I know to 'downgrade' the system from expanded to lower expanded or non-expanded.

It's like the system sees that is once was a 6 port and it freaks when you try to put in a 2 port or no expansion card.
