I have been beating my head against the wall for months over an issue involving hung lines on a T-1 with E&M Wink-Start lines... What keeps happening is roughly every few weeks the customer gets a "no free lines" message. I have replaced the T-1 card, I have checked my settings and I have run line test after line test. This morning I started going through all of the books and a few things occurred to me that "could" be issues...

1) The COMBO card; could a improperly seated card or incompatible card version cause this issue?

2) Tests; this morning I went through my network stats, under "bipolar violation" I see a number "608240", could this be the source of the issue.

3) Does anyone have a recommended (cookie cutter) T-1/E&M/Wink configuration that works consistently with Integra Telecom T-1 service?

4) Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance for your help...

post the specific software version of the 6.1. I believe there was a issue resolved with a maintenance release. that may be your problem.

I had the same problem with one of my customers, I had to go in once a month and take the lines out of service and put them back in to clear the line. Never did figure out what was causing it. But when they changed providers the problem went away.

See below regarding E&M Trunk Channels. Your software version, I believe is before the fix was released.

You may want to see if you can get newer software.

ITAS SRN 026 NA
August, 2004

Norstar MICS 6.1 MR wi 6.10 and CICS 6.1 MR wi 6.10 were released to the installed base in August
2004 as a maintenance release. SRN 02x replaces SRN 024 (MICS/CICS 6.1 MR wi6.05). This new release incorporates several fixes to the core software. A replacement process is in place and described below.
This SRN is valid for one (1) year from date of issue above.

Issues resolved in MICS 6.1 MR wi 6.10

A frozen set display and subsequent failure of parking calls (F74) and retrieving parked calls can occur when picking up the handset during dialling of a number starting with the Park Prefix.

A scenario where T1 E&M channels were locking up.

A supervisor silent monitoring a hunt group call performs join, leave and then exit functions but remains connected to the call.

Callers transferring through CAA (Centralized Auto Attendant) on NVM to the remote site get dead air or an incorrect mailbox.

PRI calls tandeming through the KSU via the Auto DN or DISA DN do not get completed when the caller paused during the dialling of the outgoing call.

Is there a way to get the update without losing all of my programming or CLID data?

Can it be downloaded?

6.1MR is SP30CQ G05. You are on the buggy release.

Changing the software is plug and play, but take a back up just in case the CAP in the cabinet is bad.

Let me verify this with you again; 30CQE06 NAT "IS" a bad release?

I want to be as certain as possible before I contact my client...

My version actually says "MR" but the release date says March 1, 2004, this would NOT be the correct version?

You posted 30CQE06 NAT
That is the buggy version.
MR came after that.

There is conflict between your SP code and the sticker on your software.

What is the NT code on the software?

I have a copy in my hand which SHOULD be a twin of the installed copy...

I purchased both cards at the same time, 30CQE06 is in the system, the one in my hand IS an original factory packaged product...

There is another rls of the 6.1 MR besides SP30CQ G05 it ends with G10. The first MR rls had issues also, I would go ahead and go with the 7.1. It did not have any issues as far as I can remember.

Okay guys, I was able to find a switch to verify the version of software and the software is SP: 30CQG05.

So long as the E&M issue is resolved by this version I'm okay with non functional of glitchy features the customer is not using anyway.

According to what I see on the release notes above G05 resolves the E&M issue.

Is that correct?

My customer is a little angry over a potential additional expense so avoiding another level swap, if possible, would be best for her...

Are we talking about software that's in a system with problems or software in your hand?

You said in the system is 30CQE06 NAT

We have now said 4 times now to upgrade, and you keep second guessing our answers.
It very simple.

Upgrade the software and take it from there, as for how the client feels that's just too bad!!!, if they dont want to upgrade to the latest non glitchy software then have them join the Windows 95 users fan club.

Sorry Curly, I don't mean to be overly repetitive, I'm just a little concerned about this issue and I don't mean to sound doubtful of your expertise at all.

The version in the system IS 30CQE06

The version in my hand IS 30CQG05

I apologize for repeating myself so many times, my customer expects me to share any information or documentation I gather in my research so I'm just being extra thorough for her peace of mind.

If it wasn't for you guys I may not have ever known of this issue and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your assistance today.
