Hi Guys, got a weird problem on a mics with 2 cid trunk cards. The customer originally called to report low volume on lines 002 and 032. I replaced both trunk cards with a couple of plain lsds trunk cards that I had and it fixed the low volume so we ordered 2 new cid
trunk cards for them. They are 200 miles away so we shipped them the new cid cards for their IT guy to install. After installing them callers could no longer dial through the call pilot AA to an extension ( invalid extension prompt) so I had him put the "old" cards back in and that fixed the dialing thru AA problem. We sent them 2 more cid cards and after inserting them callers can't dial thru the AA again. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

what is the NT code on those CI line cards and the software version on that MICS

I'll have to check the NT code on the CI line cards but the MICS has 6.1 software. Is there some compatibility issue?

thanks Brian will check the software version in maintenance and post back right away.

Jimmer- the NT code on the CI line cards is NT7b75aaaj-n

Checked the software version in maintenance and it is 30CQG05. What's odd is the customer ran with cid cards for several years without trouble. The original cid cards were NT7B75AAAG and the new ones we've been sending them are NT7B75aaaj-n. What gives?
Also read about this trouble in the search area that discusses this problem on version 2 call pilots not recognizing incoming dtmf and an upgrade or a dsp8 patch to correct it but this customer's call pilot is a version 3.0.
Any and all help appreciated.

30CQG05 was the first maintenance release of 6.1, so you should be OK with the software. The Call Pilot at 3.0 should also be OK.

I'd suggest trying to find a couple of old vintage NT5B41 caller ID cards and see if those will play nice with the system. I'm suspecting line current that is too high wreaking havoc with the trunk cards, and the older vintage cards have better built-in protection. Is there someone on site who can measure the line current? Current is normally in the range of 25-30 mA.

thanks brian i've located a couple of older cards as you suggested and the plan is to go there next week. any input about line current attenuators? i've had spotty results

Thanks again, we're having their IT guy measure the line current today and if it's high i'll obtain line current limiters from Sandman to take next week.

Just wanted to follow up on this. To my surprise the loop current on all 8 telco lines measured at an ideal 27ma. The older vintage NT5B41 cards were the magic fix. Trouble cleared instantly upon inserting these cards. Many thanks Brian.
